What does this federate with?

This instance runs Lemmy as backend, so it can federate with Lemmy, and all other compatible software. But for now, nothing is actually federating. You can enter a community or post url in the search field to fetch some remote objects and interact with them.

hello, i had some issues into registering, until i stated also an email address.

As i am a total newbie on lenny i don't know if some of the limits i see came from the backend or from the standard web user interface. Phpbb has a very good known UI so let's see. For example, i see from lemmy personal settings that i can either choose to Show Read Posts or not Show them. On a phpbb forum you can much easily distinguish "red" communities/ threads where you have new answers and reach exactly the point where you left the discussion (message unread within the thread)

I tested the signup today, and it worked fine without any email. What issues did you have specifically?

Lemmy can track read status for posts, this is pretty easy to add in lemmybb. However it doesnt yet track which comments in a thread were read. But this should also not be hard to add. issue link

@alexlehm When I copy the fedi link, it even federates with #Mastodon, apparently. I'm typing this trough Mastodon.
